Andaman & Nicobars, located in the Bay of Bengal. This group of 572 islands lies 193 km away from Cape Negrais in Myanmar, 1255 km from Calcutta, and 1190 km from Chennai. The Nicobar Islands are located to the south of the Andamans, 121 km from the Little Andaman Island. Of the total 572 islands, only 36 islands are inhabited. The British established their first colony in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 1789, which was abandoned in 1796.The British finally annexed the islands in the 19th century adding them to their empire. They turned it into a penal colony for Indian freedom fighters. The construction of the infamous Cellular Jail was completed in 1908. Hundreds of anti-British Indians were tortured to death or simply executed here. With the Second World War, Japanese troops occupied the islands and the local tribes initiated guerrilla activities to drive them out. When India achieved independence in 1947, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were incorporated into the Indian Union. However to reach these islands one has to undertake journey from Chennai OR Kolkatta. Also It is highly recommended to book your passage at least 6 months in advance to ensure reservations by flight/ Ship. Andaman is graded as one of the ideal destination for scuba diving & underwater sojourns.

Andaman & Nicobar, the Emerald Islands, consisting of two island group lies east of the mainland between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Its southernmost island is only 200 km (120 mi) from the northern tip of the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

This Union Territory is spread over a distance nearly 800 Kms. from North to South with 38 inhabited islands. A hill range extending from Burma (Myanmar) to Indonesia, these undulating islands are covered with dense forests and an endless variety of exotic flora & fauna.
 
The untouched and pristine marine life, corals, crystal clear water, mangrove - forests and birds offer a dream view of the rare gifts of nature. The capital is Port Blair on Andaman Islands.

Day 01:          Arrive Chennai, air
Arrive Chennai by flight. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by our local representative and transfer to your hotel.

Chennai, a beautiful blend of the traditional Tamil Hindu culture and modern British culture, is a major tourist destination and the capital city of Tamil Nadu. This trade city has a rich historic value and offers a large variety of tourist attractions like temples, shrines, forts and palaces.
Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Port blairDay 02:         Chennai - Port Blair , air
Departure transfer to the airport in time to board the flight for Port Blair and on arrival transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure and relax on the beaches enjoying water sports like snorkeling, wind surfing, scuba diving etc. Overnight at your hotel.

The hilly city of Port Blair, also known as Emerald Islands, is on the east coast of South Andaman Island, and is reachable from Kolkata, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam. Named after Lieutenant Archibald Blair who tried to establish a colony here in 1789, this exquisite island was previously associated with British colonial rule and the Independence struggle. The infamous Cellular Jail is located on the Ross Island. Port Blair was also headquarters of Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army. The islands are a treasure house of marine life that thrives in the deep waters of the Bay of Bengal. Port Blair was made popular by the Hawaii-born musician, filmmaker, and surfer Jack Johnson's song Holes to Heaven that describes his surf trip here.

Day 03:         Port Blair
Port Blair ViewMorning start your day with excursion to Corbyn’s Cove Beach.

This beach is very nearer to the main city Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Most of the water sport facilities are available here. All kind of arrangements for visitors are also available. A small restaurant and a hotel is available nearby for refreshments and food also. If one wants lunch or dinner, the hotel people are to be informed in advance for menu. Sun rise at Corbyn cove beach is just unforgettable

Afternoon city sightseeing tour.

Cellular Jail - Built over twelve years from 1896 to 1908 and home to hundreds of freedom fighters whose names are now engraved on the walls of its watch tower, the Cellular Jail stands as a symbol of colonial oppression, cruelty and untold suffering. Situated in the north-east corner of Port Blair, it is a national memorial now. The prison fanned out in seven wings, stands three stories high and contained a total of 698 cells.
                       
Chatham Saw Mill- Chatham Island, at the north tip of Port Blair, houses Asias largest saw mill. Dating back to 1836, the enormous workshops are built in the durable (and expensive) padauk wood. Since the 1970s, logging on the islands has been banned and most of the wood now comes by ship from Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand

Samudrika Museum-The Samudrika is a museum run by the navy. It is divided into five sections: history of the islands, their geography, people, marine life and archaeology. It houses an impressive display of coral and shells, and a large relief map of the islands topography. Anthropological Museum

The Anthropological Museum,- at Haddo in north Port Blair, was set up in 1975. It displays tribal essentials and artifacts such as boats, weapons, baskets, clothing, photographs, models and records of exploratory expeditions undertaken over the years. A well-stocked library provides the scholar with invaluable references to tribal culture.

Marina Park-Just adjacent to the Water Sports Complex is the new amusement park offering rides for children and adults alike: giant wheels, paratrooper and dragon coaster. There is also a miniature botanical garden and a statue of Netaji Subhas Bose here.

Day  04 :       Port Blair
You will begins with an interesting boat excursion to Ross Island.

Port Blair Ross IslandRoss island - the then capital of Andaman And Nicobar islands during British period. This island is now under Indian Navy. This is just 20 minutes sea journey from Phoenix bay jetty of Port Blair. Cruises and port charters are available very frequently from Phoenix bay to Ross island. People can also reach Ross island after visiting North bay coral island. The usual trip will be to travel towards Viper island from Phoenix bay jetty and from Viper to North bay and then to Ross island. This is a one day package trip.

In Ross island people can see the ruins of buildings built during British period. Ruins of Church, Printing press, Government offices, Power house, Tennis court, Bakery, pond etc... can be seen. A museum called Smrithika is being maintained by Navy in this island. Some old photographs, documentary and photo copies of letters regarding the Ross island are displayed

Day  05 :       Port Blair - Chennai – onward destination
Departure transfer to the airport in time to board the flight for Chennai and on arrival take connecting flight for onward destination.
